Summary:

General Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance plan for water and septic systems.
* Monitor chemical feed and other system components.
* Prepare and maintain records of meter readings, tests, equipment, chemical use, correspondence, and repair log.
* Collect EPA-required water quality samples and submit to certified laboratory.
* Maintain water quality sample results log.
* Regularly read meters and gauges, making adjustments as needed.
* Conduct preventive and routine maintenance on facilities and equipment.
* Periodically assess efficiency of system components (e.g., pumps and valves).
* Conduct frequent system and security inspections.
* Update system maps when a significant change to the distribution system has been made.
* Make all process control/system integrity decisions necessary to maintain the quality and quantity of water delivered to customers.
* Obtain appropriate Wyoming state licensing for public water system operator within one year of employment.
* Attend training to meet continuing education requirements.
* Create and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Resolve any compliance problems, in consultation with regulators, and gather information on upcoming regulations. Increase awareness of tools, reference materials, and other state and federal resources.
* Routinely inspect wastewater disposal systems.
* Schedule timely pumping


Responsibilities


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of the collection, distribution, and meter systems for the water and wastewater systems.
* Operate excavators, backhoes, dump trucks, vac trucks, jackhammers, pumps.
* Sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat crawl, twist, climb, push, pull, lift 50 pounds, distinguish color, and wear protective apparel.
* Exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, toxic substances, tolerate foul odors, wastewater, sludge, effluents, biohazards, and traffic hazards.
* Ability to travel to different sites and locations.
* Available for on call, stand-by, and emergency call.


Other Information

At least 2 years of Water/Wastewater Operator experience required.
